I’m so happy that there’s improvement. This trip cost RM68.

I saw this picture on http://www.mykittun.com. It makes me really happy because it’s really RARE to see this in Malaysia. Many Malay Muslims here have a bad perception on dogs, scared of dogs and think all dogs will give them decease and bite them. Thanks to mykittun for sharing!

New Wall & Fence at DHR

Brick wall - front

The other side

I plan to build a shelter here using canvas as the roof and also plywood as the bedding. It’s gonna cost about RM250 (will build it myself). This side is cooler, so they can hang out here when it’s very hot. I can also put them here if I need to separate the dogs.

I also need to get portable fence. It’s cost about RM200, I need 2 sets of this which come to a total of RM400.

BEFORE the Brick Wall

Golek & Yusni don’t seem to be happy with the new brick wall because they can’t escape.

What we can learn from Cesar Millan in this video is the most important thing is EDUCATION. We need to educate people to understand more about dog behavior and how to fulfill their needs so we can live happily with them.

Indiana First Trip to the Vet

Thanks to DHR supporters like Tammy, Pinky, Alicia and Aneesa, Indiana got his 10 in 1 vaccination and also medication for his ears.

Indiana went to see Dr. Hasnul on Saturday, July 17 ‘09. This was his first time to the vet and a journey in a pick-up truck. He was scared and nervous when we were on the way to the vet which took about 20 minutes drive. He shivered, tail in between his legs, yawned and had a lot of saliva in his mouth. All that are signs of nervousness, anxiety and stressed for a dog.

I didn’t give him any affection when he was in this state of mind because it’s not the behavior I want. I put him in a down position beside me (my friend drove the truck and I sat at the back with him). When he had the courage to go near the window and smelled the outside air, only then I praised him and gave him affection. If I didn’t know Cesar Millan, I’d have try to calm Indiana by giving him affection while he’s in the nervous state. That’s what we usually do to humans.  Note that it doesn’t work with dogs.

When he arrived at the vet and met Dr. Hasnul, he had his tail in between him legs, head down and occasionally he’d shiver. The doctor said he’s the timid type, but the good news is he’s not snappy or bite when he’s nervous. So, we need to work on his confidence.

To build up his confidence, I’m going to spend more one on one time with him and walk him alone.

On the way back home, Indiana was more relaxed. He just lay down on the floor in front of me.

So, that’s the story of our journey to the vet. We spent RM94 for his vaccination, medication and consultation. Thanks Dr. Hasnul!
